ABOUT THE ROLE
Steel City NDT, LLC is seeking a motivated full-time NDT Trainee to join our growing inspection team. This is an entry-level position for individuals interested in pursuing a career in nondestructive testing (NDT). No prior NDT experience is required — we will provide on-the-job training and support the right candidate in working toward Level I and Level II certifications.

Compensation is commensurate with experience and training progress. Pay increases as certifications are earned.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
· Assist certified Level II technicians and inspectors in the field
· Support equipment setup, calibration, and pre-inspection preparation
· Observe and participate in NDT inspections per applicable written procedures
· Log on-the-job training (OJT) hours toward Level I and Level II certification requirements
· Learn to apply testing criteria and identify discontinuities under supervision
· Assist with documentation, data recording, and inspection report preparation
· Help maintain equipment in proper working condition
· Follow all safety policies, site-specific requirements, and PPE protocols
· Communicate professionally with team members and clients
· Develop working knowledge of applicable codes, standards, and inspection procedures
REQUIRED EDUCATION / EXPERIENCE / DOCUMENTATION
· High school diploma or equivalent required; technical or trades education a plus
· Mechanical aptitude and strong attention to detail
· Ability to follow written procedures and verbal instructions accurately
· Valid driver's license and reliable transportation to travel to job sites
· Ability to travel within the regional service area (approx. 2-hour radius of Pittsburgh, PA)
· Strong work ethic, punctuality, and professional demeanor
· Ability to work in industrial environments including outdoors, at heights, and in confined spaces
· Ability to stand, climb, bend, and lift up to 50 lbs as required
· Must comply with all safety and client site-specific requirements
PREFFERED QUALIFICATIONS (NOT REQUIRED)
· Prior experience in manufacturing, welding, quality control, or industrial inspection
· Coursework or training in NDT methods from an accredited program
· Basic welding knowledge or AWS certification
· Military background with inspection, quality, or technical experience
